Group of artists with the same surname, some of whom may have been related, who were active in Seville in the late 15th century and early 16th. Documents in the archive of Seville record the activities of Ant?n S?nchez de Guadalupe and Diego S?nchez, a father and son. They were both cited in a payment made at M?laga on 17 June 1487 (Archv Esp. A. & Arqueol., iii (1927), p. 31), the earliest mention of them; other documents indicate that Ant?n S?nchez died before 1506. Various paintings have been attributed to them on the basis of stylistic comparison with the Road to Calvary (Cambridge, Fitzwilliam), which is signed by both artists. The painting's style places it within the Hispano-Flemish tradition that flourished in Seville during the late 15th century, and the figures are strongly evocative of the work of Martin Schongauer. The style of the painting also indicates a relationship between these artists and the Castilian workshop of Fernando Gallego, where the imprint of Schongauer's style is also apparent. Both groups were also heavily influenced by the work of Rogier van der Weyden, Hieronymus Bosch and Dieric Bouts (i).
