The people who should be given credit for establishing Islam are all the Noble Prophets and The Sahabah (companions of Nabi pbuh) for spreading the word, also if it weren't for the Sahabah (r.a.) then Islam would not be around because after Nabi pbuh's death they carried on the message of Islam to their family etc. Hope this helps!

The birthday of the holy Prophet (SAW) is not celebrated by all the Muslims. Many of the Muslims celebrate it. Many don't celebrate saying that it was not celebrated by the Sahabah (Companions of the Prophet).
