[sahnt krwah dew MAWN] A small appellation located in the area around the picturesque little town of Sainte-Croix-du-Mont in the southern end of the premières côtes de bordeaux in France's bordeaux region. It sits on the Garonne River across from sauternes and barsac. The appellation is only for white wines made from sémillon, sauvignon blanc and muscadelle, which must be semisweet or sweet. Although some of the grapes in the Sainte-Croix-du-Mont AC are infected by botrytis cinerea, the resulting wines aren't generally as intense or luscious (nor are the prices as high) as those from Sauternes and Barsac.
