Bavaria has many castles, the most famous probably being the beautiful castle of Neuschwanstein near Oberammergau which was the summer residence of king Ludwig II, you would be surprised how many there are. My favorite is Auerbacher in the Hesse state.

The name "VON DER BURG" means from the castle. It was derived from the castle SCHLOSS-BURG on the Wupper River. This later was Americanized to Funderburk or Funderburg.
