Biography

Schuyler Fisk (pronounced sky-ler) grew up in a small farm community in Virginia, far away from the L.A. limelight she would grow to crave. While she was located quite a distance from her goal to become a Hollywood actress, the biz was in her blood, and the distance would be overcome. Born on July 8, 1982, to actress Sissy Spacek and filmmaker Jack Fisk, Schuyler Fisk would venture to Los Angeles herself at the ripe age of 17. She had gained experience with bit parts in films while she was still in high school, and made a mark with her performance as Kristy Thomas in 1995's Baby-Sitters Club. In 1996, she starred as Joe in My Friend Joe. After completing high school early, she left her parents behind to embark on a career in an industry both of her parents had already explored. Her performance ambition developed her talent as a musician as well as an actress. Playing guitar helped her to write several songs and eventually sing for the soundtracks of some of her films. As the credits scroll at the end of 2000's Snow Day, Fisk can be heard both singing and playing guitar. (She played the role of Lane Leonard within the film.) That same year, she wrote and sang "Catching up With Yesterday" in Skeletons in the Closet, in which she played Robin. In 2002, she earned a lot of attention for her role in Orange County starring Jack Black and Colin Hanks. Her character, Ashley, is a surfer girl with a relaxed, beach-loving attitude, and the part helped Fisk break through the teen film barrier and into more mainstream attention. ~ Sarah Sloboda, All Movie Guide

Biography

Fisk, whose first name is pronounced "SKY-ler," was born in Los Angeles, California, and moved to Charlottesville, Virginia, shortly thereafter. The daughter of actress Sissy Spacek and production designer Jack Fisk, she began acting in school plays as a child and eventually progressed to film.

Her first acting role was as a bumblebee in a community theatre production of Charlotte's Web. She played her first lead role, as the title character in Annie, in sixth grade, and made her film debut in 1995 as Kristy Thomas in The Baby-Sitters Club. She is perhaps most well known for her supporting role in the 2002 teen comedy, Orange County, starring opposite Colin Hanks and Jack Black. Her notable TV appearances include an appearance on One Tree Hill as Daytona in the 2005 episode "I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning" and an appearance on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit as Ella Christiansen in the 2006 episode "Taboo."

Fisk plays the guitar, which she learned from her mother. She has signed with Universal Records as a musician. She plays folk music, and recorded a demo with Joshua Radin, whom she toured with for the past 2 years. In early 2006 the duo wrote a song entitled "Paperweight." The song was featured on the soundtrack to The Last Kiss. Plans to release an EP were scrapped in favor of releasing a full length LP, which was released digitally on January 27, 2009 as a download at several online retailers including iTunes and Amazon. As of the week of February 4, 2009, Fisk's debut album "The Good Stuff", climbed to #1 on the iTunes Folk Charts. On Amazon, Fisk's album ranked #17 on the Folk chart in MP3 albums. She is currently on tour with Ben Taylor. She graduated from the College of Arts & Sciences at the University of Virginia in 2006.
