Set of systematic procedures that enable a problem to be approached or a question answered in a methodical and logical way. Typically, the stages of a scientific approach to the solution of a problem include posing a research question and making a plan, gathering information, interpreting the findings and results, formulating a hypothesis, and testing the hypothesis by experiment.
