Biography

Scott Storch's knack for laying down dazzling keyboard lines led to a burgeoning career as a musically blessed producer by the early 2000s after aligning himself with production duties for high-profile rappers such as Snoop Dogg and Busta Rhymes. Long before Storch was crafting entire tracks for superstar rappers, he was a humble keyboardist. He contributed to mostly forgotten Philadelphia-area efforts such as Schoolly D's Welcome to America (1994) and G. Love & Special Sauce's self-titled debut (1994), yet his humble contributions to a then low-profile, indie-label debut album by another Philadelpha act ended up being his path to success. This particular album happened to be the Roots' Organix (1993), an album that led to a major label deal for the Roots, solidifying Storch's role as keyboardist for the group. Yet as the years passed and his reputation grew as the talented keyboardist in America's premier live hip-hop "band," Storch began extending his reach, taking on production opportunities. His big break came when his keyboard riff laced the mammoth lead single to Dr. Dre's comeback album, "Still D.R.E." Working alongside Dre obviously had its pluses, and soon Storch found himself co-producing the lead single to Xzibit's Restless album, "X," and getting the opportunity to produce three tracks for Snoop Dogg's Tha Last Meal. In subsequent years he became one of the rap industry's most reliable hitmakers, up there with the Neptunes, Kanye West, and Lil Jon among the industry's most in-demand hired hands. Some of his best-known productions include Terror Squad's "Lean Back," Mario's "Let Me Love You," 50 Cent's "Candy Shop," and Beyoncé's "Naughty Girl." ~ Jason Birchmeier, All Music Guide

Scott Spencer Storch (born December 16 1973) is a Canadian[1] entertainer, hip hop, pop, R&B, Reggaeton record producer and an occasional rapper. He has his own record label, Storch Music Company and his own music production company called Tuff Jew Productions LLC and he has produced for a variety of artists including Dr. Dre, 50 Cent, Ja Rule, G-Unit, Jadakiss, Christina Aguilera, Nas, Lil Wayne, Paris Hilton, Fat Joe, Beyoncé, and The Game to name a few.

Early life

Scott was born in 1973 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Storch is the son of a Fahad court reporter and a singer, both of Jewish heritage. He eventually moved to Cherry Hill, New Jersey where he grew up middle class, and dropped out of school in ninth grade to pursue a career in music. When he was 16, he became the pianist for the hip-hop band The Roots. The band got a record deal and things were moving up. Scott quit the band because he says he "needed to take a step backward to take a step forwards". He eventually moved to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and then Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and is now a music producer.

He has an interest in Middle Eastern and Indian music, which comes across in some of his songs, most notably "Let's Ride" by The Game, "Candy Shop" and "Just a Lil' Bit" by 50 Cent, "Turn It Up" by Paris Hilton, "Poppin' Them Thangs" by G-Unit, "Let Me Love You" by Mario, "Playa's Only" by R. Kelly (featuring The Game), "Lock U Down" by Mýa, as well as "Naughty Girl" and "Baby Boy", both by Beyoncé (the latter featuring dancehall artist, Sean Paul), "About Us" by Brooke Hogan, and "Turn It Up" by Chamillionaire.

Private life

In his private life he has been musically linked with rapper Lil' Kim, video model Erica Mena, and hotel heiress Paris Hilton. He has been linked to Jade TrueLove [citation needed]. Despite his flashy appearance wearing enormous amounts of diamond jewelry , he prefers privacy. He lives in Miami. April 16, 2006, Scott and his on-and-off girlfriend of four years, Dae Daniel Esquire, welcomed his second son, Jalen Storch. Scott also has an older son named Steve Storch who lives with him.

Conflicts

Timbaland

Hip-hop producer Timbaland refers to Storch in his single "Give It To Me," singing: I get a half a million for my beats, you get a couple grand/Never going to see the day that I ain't got the upper hand/I'm respected from California way down to Japan/I'm a real producer and you just the piano man/Your songs don't top the charts, I heard 'em, I'm not a fan." Timbaland confirmed that he was talking about Storch in an interview with MTV presenter Sway Calloway. He said that he would go after the trashtalkers on his new album Timbaland Presents Shock Value. [2]

Storch responded with the track "Built Like That" on February 26, 2007 co-produced by Nu Jerzey Devil, which features Philadelphia rapper NOX. On the track, Storch claims to have been solely responsible for the production of the 2002 Justin Timberlake hit "Cry Me a River," for which he received credit as a co-writer and pianist, but production was solely credited to Timbaland. He also claims that Timbaland's production partner Danja has been responsible for his recent string of hits with Nelly Furtado and Justin Timberlake, and mocks the commercial failure of Timbaland's former Beat Club label.

They recently ended their feud. This was confirmed by Timbaland in the final issue of Scratch Magazine.

Christina Aguilera

The eighth track on Disk 1 of Christina's album "Back to Basics", called "F.U.S.S." stands for "Fuck U Scott Scorch ". Scott Storch produced and co-wrote a number of songs for Aguilera's previous album Stripped, including "Walk Away", "Can't Hold Us Down", "Infatuation", "Fighter", "Loving Me 4 Me", "Keep On Singin' My Song", and "Underappreciated". Storch was asked to be involved with Back to Basics but refused to be a part of the project when Aguilera declined to pay airfare for him and his entourage to fly out to her, amongst other demands, which led to a breakdown of their relationship.[3]

"F.U.S.S.", was written as a response to the animosity between Aguilera and Scott Storch during the recording of Stripped. In the interview with Maxim, she said, "That’s a way of burying my experience with him. We did great work on Stripped... When I tried to work with him again, he made uncalled-for demands. It was disappointing that someone would get affected like that." [4]
