Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts of France was the first scouting
association founded in France in 1911. Nicolas Benoit is considered
the discoverer of Scouting in France.
The unity of the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts of France lasted a
very short time (five days), and, due to issues regarding
secularism, the group split into three scouting groups. Between
1911 and 1923, seven scouting groups are created in France,
including the Guides de France (GDF) in 1923.
In 2004, Scouts and Guides of France from France merged in a
single movement: Scouts and Guides of France (SGDF).
Today Le Scoutisme Français participates in programs and
activities of WOSM and the WAGGGS . It is a partner of the French
administration in developing training and regulations of the camps
and Scouting activities.
