The borders of Scythia are not uniformly agreed upon. The most common view is that Scythia was in the area now controlled by Ukraine and nearby areas of southern Russia. Some expand Scythia to the east of the Caucasus mountains or further south into the Caucasus mountains.

However, Scythians have disappeared. Some claim that the Crimean Tatars are the descendants of the Scythians. Others argue that they have been Slavicized by the influx of Slavs into Ukraine and Russia roughly a thousand years ago.
