Biography

Sean Garrett is an R&B singer, songwriter, and producer from Atlanta credited with penning smash hits for Beyoncé, Usher, Fergie, and Ciara, among many other superstars. Born Garrett Hamler in Atlanta, GA, he first established himself as a hitmaking songwriter in 2004, the year he wrote the Billboard Hot 100 chart-topping hits "Yeah!" (by Usher) and "Goodies" (by Ciara), plus the Top Three smash "Soldier" (by Destiny's Child). In 2005 he wrote songs for Mary J. Blige, Mario, 112, Amerie, Chris Brown, Teairra Mari, Omarion, and Donell Jones, including the chart-topper "Run It!" (by Chris Brown). In 2006 he wrote songs for the Pussycat Dolls, Fergie, Beyoncé, Kelis, Fantasia, Diddy, Jamie Foxx, Jay-Z, JoJo, Gwen Stefani, and Monica, including the chart-toppers "London Bridge" (by Fergie) and "Check on It" (by Beyoncé). Though he failed to pen any chart-toppers in 2007, another busy year for him, he began planning the launch of his solo career, starting with the debut single "Grippin'" in early 2008. The song was poorly received, however, failing to reach the Hot 100, let alone scale it, and consequently the release of his solo debut album, Turbo 919, was pushed back to a later date. ~ Jason Birchmeier, All Music Guide

Garrett Hamler, better known by his stage name Sean Garrett is an American singer, songwriter and record producer.

Garrett is responsible for a series of chart-topping compositions, most notably Usher's "Yeah!", Ciara's breakout track "Goodies" Teairra Mari's debut single "Make Her Feel Good" and Chris Brown's debut single "Run It!". He is in a production duo with Swizz Beatz, and together they produced several Beyoncé Knowles singles: "Diva", "Ring the Alarm", "Get Me Bodied", "Upgrade U" and "Check on It". He also writes often over productions by Polow da Don. Garrett is currently working on a new album by Whitney Houston.

Garrett has also recently embarked on a career as a performer, writing and co-producing his own single "Grippin'". [1] His debut album Turbo 919 was released June 24, 2008, on his own record label, "Bet I Penned It Music".

Garrett's catch-phrase, which is featured in multiple songs he has produced, is "Smash on the radio, bet I penned it." Also, Sean Garrett has become good friends with Ludacris. Ludacris has collaborated on Garrett's debut single of Turbo 919, "Grippin'". In return, Garrett was featured on Ludacris's first single "What Them Girls Like", alongside Chris Brown, off Theater of the Mind. He recently reunited with Ciara and is currently working on her third studio album "Fantasy Ride" due out early 2009. He has also written and produced a song called "I Did It for Love", in which he is featured and appearing on the video, with Korean popstar BoA for her first eponymous English album.
