1. Banking. The situation where a lender fails to exercise normal Due Diligence in approving loans to bank officers or directors, makes loans to insiders at abnormally favorable terms, or illegally accepts kickbacks in exchange for making a loan. See also Insider Lending.
2. Trusts. The situation where a Trustee sworn to protect the assets of another person or the Estate of a decedent consummates a transaction out of self-interest as opposed to his duty as a Fiduciary.
