Most players in the NHL have been drafted because they had a good showing in the sport in college. Each NHL team sends out scouts to attend college games and observe players that they feel would make the team.

Depending on which team kicked it out of bounds, the other team sends one of their players to throw the ball back in to play towards one of their own teammates.

You go to the trade-center which is right next to the "league" tab. You select the players on your team and the players on the other team that you want to trade. If someone sends a request to you, you will see it in the trade-center when a window pops up. You may accept or decline it.
