Your e-mail is stored on your e-mail provider's domain server until you download it to your computer.

Download and delete means the e-mail message is deleted from the server once you have it on your computer. If you delete the message on your computer, the message is gone.

Download and keep means a copy of the e-mail message remains on the server after it is downloaded to your computer. If you delete the message on your computer, the copy remains on the server.

If you send someone a message on Facebook Messenger and then block them, you will not be able to see whether they have read your message. Once you block someone, you lose access to any interactions with them, including read receipts for messages. Additionally, the message may not even appear in their inbox once you block them.

To request a webpage from the server, an HTTP client sends the server a GET request.

There are three main differences between HTTP and SMTP:

1) HTTP is mainly a pull protocol--someone loads information on a web server and users use HTTP to pull the information from the server. On the other hand, SMTP is primarily a push protocol--the sending mail server pushes the file to receiving mail server.

2) SMTP requires each message, including the body of each message, to be in seven-bit ASCII format. If the message contains binary data, then the message has to be encoded into seven-bit ASCII format. HTTP does not have this restriction.

3) HTTP encapsulate each object of message in its own response message while SMTP places all of the message's objects into one message.

They will be saved on the servers of the receiving user's email provider. For example, say I send a message to example@gmail.com. The email is sent to the servers at gmail.com, where it will wait until my friend logs on to receive it. Even if my friend were logged on at the time I sent the email, it would always pass through this server before reaching him. This transmission of email from the sender to the recipient follows a process called "Store and Forward". A single email message passes through several, maybe dozens of servers before it reaches its destination. Each server stores the message until it the next server is ready to receive it, at which time the server forwards the message to the next server along the chain. The last server in the chain (the server you download your email from) stores the message until your email client application program is ready to receive it, at which time the server forwards the stored message to your computer.

The best way between Linux and Windows is through Samba. Samba is an open source implementation of Microsoft's Server Message Block protocol, which is what Windows uses for file and print sharing.

Between Linux boxes, however, it can be as simple as a networked filesystem.

Let's say x is in conversation to y. When x sends a message to y, the message is sent to the AIM server. The server sees that this message is designated to be received by y, and the AIM server passes the message to y. Now let's say that y wants to reply to x with a picture. AIM makes you make a direct connection for this. Now when y sends the picture, it goes directly to x, completely bypassing the AIM server. Be careful who you direct connect with, since this is also a way for hacker's to attack your computer. They can't do that when the AIM server is the middle-man.

A sent message leaves your phone but stays in the service providers server until the other phone signal it catches. When it catches the other phone the message reaches the other phone and will be deleted from the server also. Now the message is delivered to the other phone.

When you opt of the delivery report option in message section of your phone, it will deliver the message to the other phone and the sends a messsage to your phone that the message had been delivered.

The conventional chatroom works by pinging the server for updates on the chat logs. When an update is found, it is displayed on the user interface, typically containing the name and message. When you type a message, it is sent to be processed by the server and stored on a log. Someone else then pings the server and updates their chat screen.

Client and server stubs facilitate communication in remote procedure calls (RPC) by acting as intermediaries between the client and server. The client stub is responsible for packaging the procedure call and its arguments into a message, which it sends over the network to the server. The server stub receives this message, unpacks it, and invokes the corresponding procedure on the server side. This abstraction allows developers to call remote procedures as if they were local, simplifying the process of distributed computing.

Microsoft mail server is the high ending machine that stores only Microsoft based mails. In other words these are the servers that sotres emails. when you send an email to a person and that person is not available so the mail server saves your message until the person to whom you wanted to send that messgage log on to his mail address and when he/she does, the mail server sends your message to him/her.
