History

The Sexbomb Dancers were originally composed of four members upon their formation in 1999. They were backup dancers for Eat Bulaga, the Philippines' longest running noontime variety show. Of the four original members, only Rochelle Pangilinan remains part of the Sexbomb Girls, and is regarded as the leader because of her seniority.

The group began in November 1999 as the Chicken Sandwich Dancers which was an offshoot of the Danz Focus (house dancers of Eat Bulaga). At first there were 4 (Cheryl, Debra, Janine, and Rochelle). The group expanded to 6 with the addition of Jopay and Aira. Then expanded to 7 when Mia added to the line-up and they were called as The Original Seven. The group expanded to 8 (after the first Sexbomb Search), 12 and 13 (during their first FHM appearance) to an all time high of 22.

The Sex Bomb 2002. The Sexbomb Singers were formed that same year, and are billed as Sexbomb Girls in their shows and promotional materials. The dancers did shows under the dance albums, Sexiest Hits Series and "I Like." The Sexbomb Singers and Dancers are commonly still referred to as the Sexbomb Girls.

The Sexbomb Girls is managed by Joy Cancio, of FOCUS Entertainment Inc. Joy is veteran of the Vicor Dancers of the 1980s.

Singing career

Originally, the singers line-up were Rochelle Panglinan, Jopay Paguia, Weng Ibarra, Evette Pabaln, AB, and Sugar Mercado. They were called as Sexbomb Singers Circa in early 2002. They were introduced through their first album called "The Sexiest Hits" in 2002. But in late 2002, due to AB and Sugar's departure from the group Izzy Trazona and Monic Icban were hired to fill their spot. In late 2002, the new batch of singers were introduced through their very first album called "Unang Putok" features the vocals from Rochelle, Jopay, Weng, Evette, Izzy, and Monic. In early 2004, Mariam Al-Obaidi was hired as an additional member for singers' line-up. Mariam was introduced on their third album. But after one year, Monic and Mariam left the group and CheChe Tolentino was hired to fill their spot. She was introduced on their fourth album. But CheChe's singing spot from the group was short-lived as the management decided to retain the remaining original members of the singers.

Fans had thought that Monic's and Mariam's replacement would the DJ Bomb Girls (Danielle Ramirez and Jovel Palomo).

Fans had thought that the other members from the dancers were the new singers additional members. Like Mia Pangyarihan, Sunshine Garcia, CheChe Tolentino, Grace Nera, Johlan Veluz, Louise Bolton, Mhyca Bautista, and Shane Gonzales. Even fans had thought the former member, Kryz Moreno, would be the additional member because in the season seventeenth of their tv show called "Daisy Siete," Kryz was a singer.

In 2001, the Sexbomb Search winner, Yvette Lopez, was also considered to be a singer.

Daisy Siete has been a ratings mogul since its premiere, charting its highest rating at 25% in December 2003 (first season). This is a very high rating for the afternoon block. These days Daisy Siete rates anywhere from 15% to 21%. It has blown away all the shows put up by rival networks to compete with it. Some of these shows are Colgate Trip Kita, Sarah the Teen Princess, Kapamilya Cinema to name a few.

From 2002-2003, the girls were also part of Da Boy and Da Girl, with Rochelle as Britney, and the girls as japayukis.

Magpakailanman

Magpakailanman has featured the life stories of several Sexbomb Girls with them playing themselves: Sunshine Garcia, Jacque Estevez, Aira Bermudez, Evette Pabalan, Johlan Veluz and Aifha Medina. Are you a registered voter and still clueless about the new automated process of the elections?

If the answer to that question is “yes,” then this new “Sexbomb” video from GMA Network is a must-see.

The network tapped the dancers, who started their career as backup dancers for a noontime show, for a song-and-dance video to educate voters about automated elections.

GMA Network has released this video, “Bilog na Hugis Itlog,” which describes the process of shading new ballots.

The video clip also teaches voters to cast votes by simply shading the circle that corresponds to the name of their preferred candidates. It also includes instructions on the number of candidates a voter can choose in a specific contest.

Will this video be as infectious as their “Spaghetting pataas at pababa” video done in the past? That remains to be seen.
