"Shocked" is a dance pop song written by Stock, Aitken & Waterman for Kylie Minogue’s third studio album Rhythm of Love (1990). It was produced by Stock, Aitken & Waterman and received a positive reception from music critics. The song was never intended for single release but when remixed by DNA and featured a rap penned and performed by Pauline Bennett a.k.a Jazzi P (whose appearance during the Let's Get To It Tour elevated her to cult status with some Kylie fans) and so it was released as the fourth and final single in the spring of 1991 (see 1991 in music) where it was a European chart hit, peaking at number six in the United Kingdom and number two in Ireland. In Australia the song peaked at number seven. Due to the top ten chart performance of the song in the UK, Minogue became the first artist in the history of the UK charts to have their first thirteen releases go top ten.

The single was unique in that it became Kylie's first ever, and only, PWL picture-disc single, a format which Pete Waterman decried, stating "the songs can do their own work".

Music video

The music video featured Kylie dancing in front of many different sets including in front of a keyhole with rapper Jazzi P on the other side and a harp, at the beginning of the video Kylie pulls up in a black cab and walks towards a set of revolving doors which are the main focus of the video as these lead into the mysterious surreal world that the video is based upon, these created a stir in the media due to its sexual overtones.[citation needed]
