Biography

As one of the founding members of Faithless, Sister Bliss became one of Britain's most popular figures in the electronica scene. What many might not realize is her incredible history as a musician and DJ before that point. She started learning the piano at the age of five, eventually moving on to violin, saxophone, and the bass. She started DJing in 1987, acting as one of the few female house DJs in Britain at the time. She appeared at many popular clubs in the country, including Cream, the Gallery, and the Ministry of Sound, and began to play internationally as well. She began to make her own demos, and by the time she had met fellow DJ Rollo, she was already quite the featured attraction in the techno scene. The two began to write and record together while she continued her solo career. The singles "Life's a Bitch" and "Badman" were both huge club hits, and her collaborations with Rollo eventually came out under the Faithless name. Their first album, 1996's Reverence, was an underground sensation but did not quite break the mainstream. 1998's Sunday 8AM changed all of that, the single "God Is a DJ" became one of the biggest club anthems of the decade while the album enjoyed bigger sales than anything they had previously released. Critics may have been harsh, but the group kept moving forward with both members also pursuing solo careers on the side. After touring behind the album, Sister Bliss released the popular "Sister Sister" single and began work on her first solo album. Faithless also recorded again, releasing the Back to Mine mix at the start of 2001 and the original album Outrospective in the summer. ~ Bradley Torreano, All Music Guide

Sister Bliss (real name Ayalah Deborah Bentovim, Hebrew אילה בן-טובים [frequently misspelled Bentovin] - born December 30, 1970) is a British Israel-born musician, producer and DJ. In the studio she is best known for her work with Rollo Armstrong creating and remixing hits by a number of artists.

She started music at the age of five, when she learned how to play the piano. She eventually moved on to the violin, saxophone and then bass.

She is also a member of "Faithless" which she formed in 1995 with Rollo, Jamie Catto and Maxi Jazz. Various others have been members and collaborators over the years including Zoë Johnston and, frequently, Dido Armstrong who is Rollo's sister and began her music career providing backing vocals for the band. Faithless tour extensively and while Rollo prefers to stay in the studio, Sister Bliss can be seen on stage with Maxi.

She released a two-disc compilation entitled "Headliners: 02" in 2001.

On 10 September 2006 she gave birth to a baby boy.

In 2008, she released "Nightmoves" on July 14, and in interviews surrounding the new release hinted that Faithless' new album is almost finished.
