Sivakumar (born as பழனிச்சாமி Palanichamy on 26 April 1939) is an renowned and acclaimed Tamil cinema artist and veteran film actor. He is popular in the cinema industry and Tamil movie audiences alike for his versatility in his acting skills and for his wide array of character roles that he portrayed onscreen. His penchant for artistic drawing is also well known. He is a disciplinarian and a complete teetoller in the Tamil Cinema Industry throughout his film career. He is also a strict vegetarian and also a very good yoga exponent for a long time.
He has starred in the role of leading man and character artist in many famous Tamil movies such as Kandan Karunai, Thunivae Thozhan and Uyarndha Manidhan. He received a life-time-achievement award for his contribution to the field of Cinema and in particular Tamil moviedom at the 55th annual Filmfare awards.

Personal life
He is married to Lakshmi and the couple have three children with two sons and a daughter. He has the rare distinction in Indian cinema industry of not having gossiped romantically with any of the contemporary heroines. Sivakumar's family is now became a star's family with his sons steepping into the Tamil cinema industry and his daughter-in-law Jyothika also being a popular Tamil movie artist. His daughter's name is Brindha Sivakumar. His sons are the popular cinema actors Surya and Karthik Sivakumar.
