Biography

An imposing figure with a voice to match, Slim Thug had been dropping in for guest verses -- on mixtapes and other artists' albums -- for several years before making his full-length debut through the Neptunes' Star Trak label. Based out of the northern part of Houston, the MC fell in with Swisha House's Michael Watts and established a following in short time, which had a lot to do with his business instincts -- mixtapes released on his own Boss Hogg Outlawz label circulated throughout the region. (He also acquired a couple record stores and became involved with real estate.) Already Platinum, distributed by Geffen, sustained several release-date delays before its July 2005 street date, and featured production work from the Neptunes and Jazze Pha. ~ Andy Kellman, All Music Guide

Stayve Jerome Thomas (born September 8, 1980), better known as Slim Thug, is an American rapper. He gained mainstream attention for his contribution to the popular single from rapper Mike Jones, "Still Tippin'". He began his rap career with Swishahouse in the late 1990s. After realizing how much money he could make distributing his own mixtapes, he parted ways with Swishahouse on good terms and formed his own independent label, Boss Hogg Outlawz. Slim Thug has since worked with Interscope Records until August 3, 2008, where he went to Koch Records.[1] According to MTV.com, Lupe Fiasco's video for "Hip Hop Saved My Life" was based on Slim Thug's life story. "It is based on Thug boss cause he is so G, and inspires me," Fiasco revealed. Slim Thug also released the song "Like a Boss" which has now been made into a popular parody by The Lonely Island.[2] Recently, his song "Click Clack" was featured in the film Death Race.

In October 2009 he appeared on The Daily Show, in a parody discussing the effects of the recession upon wealthy rappers such as himself. [3] The skit was filmed in part at The Lion's Den Recordings in Houston, Texas.
