WinAntiVirus 2005/2006/2007 is known spyware, a variant of Smitfraud. It actually infects your system with _more_ spyware. Do not buy it anywhere.

Advances Registry Optimizer is a rogue program. You could use Google Smitfraud Removal to get rid of this program. The Optimizer will not help you in any way and will slow your computer speed down to a minimum.

Reboot into safe mode (with networking if network connection through internet or broadband). Then download and run Spybot which can be found at www.safer-networking.org/ . We just had this problem and this seems to have cleaned it. Be sure you allow it to delete the bad registry entries. Good luck! TechieTonya

Every google hit suggests that it IS typical codec malware, generally resulting in Smitfraud infection. The only way to break the aggressive cycle of prompts (other than accepting, a VERY bad move) is to use CTRL-ALT-DEL (or any other task manager you may have) and then terminate the Internet explorer application/process.
