I'm guessing you mean softshell. Their shells are obviously soft and have big white spots and discoloration. The shell may also be lumpy or loose it's coloration. It can be prevented by feeding your turtles veggies and occasionally taking them outside in a kiddie pool to bask in real sun. Hope I helped!
