Sonology

A sonologist is a person who studies sonology, that is, the science of sound.

The term encompasses doctors who have been trained in the field of clinical ultrasound . The presribed norms for training which varies in different countries. IN general the wors "sonologist" refers to a doctor perfoming ultrasound Vis a Vis a "sonographer" who is a non medical person trained and certified in diagnostic ultrasound.

The specialists called solar astronomers or helio astronomers study the sun in the subject of helio astronomy.
