Individual who speaks on behalf of a product or service and whose name becomes associated with the product or service, as, for example, Red Buttons has become the spokesperson for a real estate development in Florida. A spokesperson may be a celebrity or someone who begins as an unknown and who gains a measure of celebrity through association with the product. See also personality; testimonial advertising.
