The company also sells it products online and through catalogs. Steuben Glass was founded in 1903 by Frederick Carder and Thomas Hawkes. Despite its status, Steuben Glass had been unprofitable for several years. The crystal maker's longtime parent, Corning, which had run the company as part of its glass division since 1918, sold Steuben in August 2008 to Schottenstein Stores Corporation.
