Biography

Stutterfly called Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada, home. Vocalist Chris Stickney, guitarist Bradyn Byron, bassist Jordan Chase, and drummer Craig Langerud issued the Hollow demo in 2000, and by the issue of the Broken in Pieces LP two years later they had build a solid following for their righteous, hybridist brand of alt-metal and post-hardcore. The lineup solidified with the 2003 addition of second guitarist Jason Ciolli, and Ryan Loerke took over on drums the following year. Stutterfly eventually signed with Maverick Records, and the full-length And We Are Bled of Color appeared in June 2005. The band supported it with a few mid-summer dates on the Warped Tour. ~ Johnny Loftus, All Music Guide

Stutterfly was a post-hardcore band formed in 1998,[1] originally named Uncle Ed's Private Jet. In February 2007, the band changed its name to Secret and Whisper due to the replacement of their founding vocalist and the corresponding changes in their musical style.

The band started in Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada, with four members: Chris Stickney (vocals), Jordan Chase (bass, vocals), Bradyn Byron (guitar, vocals), and Craig Langerud (drums). In 2003, Jason Ciolli (guitar) joined the band, and the next year Ryan Loerke took over on drums. 2006 saw Stickney leave the band, to be later replaced, after a brief open competition for the job, by Charles Furney who left another Kelowna-based band, The Bleeding Alarm.

History

Stutterfly's demo, Hollow, sold over 3,000 copies at their shows alone.[2] Broken in Pieces, their first full-length album, was released in 2002 (to later be re-released on the bands' own label, The Elysien Project).

Stutterfly was well established at MP3.com and was a popular download. With the help of Los Angeles-based Freeze Management, Stutterfly made a deal with Madonna's Maverick Records in the summer of 2003 [3], and later toured with fellow labelmates Story of the Year. Working with producer Ulrich Wild, the band released And We Are Bled of Color, which contained new versions of several songs from Broken in Pieces..., on June 21, 2005. Music videos were also produced for the songs "Gun in Hand" and "Fire Whispers".

Some time after releasing And We Are Bled of Color, Stutterfly was dropped from Maverick [4], with lead singer Chris Stickney leaving the band amicably in August 2006. Charles Furney, formerly of thebleedingalarm, joined as the new vocalist later in 2006.

With the band's new front man came a change in style and a decision to rename the ensemble was announced via the band's MySpace page on February 6, 2007, and on February 24, 2007 it was announced that their new name would be Secret and Whisper.
