Diet Information:

Subway Diet

Created by: Jared Fogle

A college student living next door to a Subway sandwich outlet, Jared Fogle weighed over 400 pounds when he stopped in at Subway one day, and noticed the sign that stated they offered low fat subs. That day he had a cup of coffee for breakfast, ate a six-inch turkey sub with baked potato chips for lunch, and had a 12-inch vegetable sub for dinner. After he had lost 100 pounds on that diet, he began to walk for exercise, and lost 245 pounds over the course of a year.

The Subway chain does not endorse Fogle's diet, but the Subway Website provides basic healthy weight loss suggestions such as eating as many vegetables as possible, starting each day with a healthy breakfast, eating slowly, choosing calorie-free beverages and regular exercise. The several low-fat offerings on the Subway menu are recommended as one of the dieter's meals each day.
