Sysmä is a municipality of Finland situated in Southern Finland and is part of the Päijänne Tavastia region. The municipality has a population of 4,464 (30 June 2009)[2] and covers an area of 936.29 square kilometres (361.50 sq mi) of which 268.86 km2 (103.81 sq mi) is water.[1] The population density is 6.69 inhabitants per square kilometre (17.3 /sq mi).
The municipality is unilingually Finnish.
