Teachers College, Columbia University is one of the largest and most comprehensive graduate and professional schools of education in the country. The school offers Masters of Arts, Master of Education, Master of Science, Doctor of Education, and Doctor of Philosophy degrees. About a third of its more than 5,000 students are in teacher preparation programs; the rest plan on careers in administration, policy, research, and teaching in fields ranging across education, health, and psychology. More than three-quarters of its students are female. Teachers College was founded in 1887.
