Telewest was created in 1984.

Telewest originated under the name Croydon Cable in the year 1984. It was also known as Telewest Broadband and Telewest Communications before being shortened to simply Telewest.

Telewest Broadband is owned by Virgin Media. After merging with the company NTL, the two companies Telewest and NTL were rebranded under the label Virgin Media.
