The Daily Show is a half-hour, satirical news show that is produced by the Comedy Central cable television network in the United States. Originally hosted by Craig Kilborn and currently hosted by Jon Stewart, The Daily Show presents news in the tradition of Saturday Night Live's "Weekend Update," satirizing current events in the real world as well as their coverage by the media.
Known particularly for its political commentary and its celebrity interviews, The Daily Show won a Peabody Award in the year 2000 for its coverage of the U.S. presidential election. It also won Emmy Awards for "Outstanding Variety, Music or Comedy Series" and for "Outstanding Writing for a Variety, Music or Comedy Program" at the 2003 and 2004 ceremonies.
An edited version of The Daily Show called The Weekly Daily Show is broadcast outside of the United States once a week by CNN.
