The Japanese Army committed atrocities & brutality against
the Chinese civilian population of the city of Nanking (Nanjing),
China. This included looting, mass murder, torture & rape. It
is estimated that about 300,000 men, women & children were
murdered during the six week period following the city's capture on
December 13, 1937. This event is most often called the "Rape of
