Thegn or Thayn

It is a colourful design, based on 7th century thegn dress of the folk of Kent.

Normally of wool it reproduces England's traditional colours of red and white.

The word 'thane' came from the Old English words 'then', 'thegn', and 'thegen'. The term originated from the landholding system in effect in Anglo-Saxon England. In the system, a freeman held land in return for military service to a noble.

A blood red and cream traditional tunic or dress which was ancestral costume. This was researched by costume historians and is now worn as in the style of a 6th to 7th century thegn class male and female.
