Review
Taken from a Norwegian television show, this half-hour video features the Thelonious Monk Quartet, which at the time (April 15, 1966) consisted of the pianist/leader, tenor saxophonist Charlie Rouse, bassist Larry Gales, and drummer Ben Riley. This straight performance film gives one an opportunity to see Monk in action on versions of "Lulu's Back in Town," "Blue Monk," and "'Round Midnight." The musicians all play quite well, although the lack of an applauding audience results in a few awkward pauses between songs.
