Thomas O'NeillRussell

Russell, T[homas] O'Neill (1828-1908), novelist (pseudonym, ‘Reginald Massey’) and founding member of the Gaelic League with Douglas Hyde and others. Born in Co. Westmeath of Quaker stock, he first stated the case for language revival in The Irishman (1854). The hero of Dick Massey (1860) is a member of a landowning family who works passionately for the victims of the Famine. In True Heart's Trials (1872) the scene shifts between the Irish midlands and American backwoods.

Thomas Russell (August 14, 1895March 9, 1958) was an American painter, also the grandfather of Kurt Russell, and father of actor Bing Russell.

Biography

Born Thomas James Allen Russell in Chittenden County, Vermont, in a city called South Burlington. He is also from Virginia. He married Margaret Mitchell-Russell on the 17th March 1924, they had one child named Bing Russell. He had sold over 30 paintings in his home town, when earning money he became quite "a rich fella"; After a while he made a unpublished book called The Rich Little Fella, it was Thomas's only book made. Thomas was also interested in Business, and got a job doing all business people do. Thomas bought a home in Brattleboro, Vermont the birthplace of his son Neil Russell. Thomas really had 2 jobs: a Art job & a Business job.

Death

Thomas Russell died on March 9th, 1958 in Los Angeles, California, at the age of 62, it appeared that Thomas had died from cancer, the same cause of death his son Bing had problems with. Thomas was buried at Westwood Village Memorial Park Cemetery.
