ram (or shove) down (someone's) throat Informal.
[Middle English throte, from Old English.]
The region that includes the pharynx, the larynx, and related structures. Both the nasal passages and the oral cavity open into the pharynx, which also contains the openings of the Eustachian tubes from the ears. The lower portion of the pharynx leads into the esophagus and the trachea or windpipe. The rather funnel-shaped pharynx is suspended from the base of the skull and the jaws; it is surrounded by three constrictor muscles that function primarily in swallowing. See also Early modern humans; Pharynx.
The larynx, or voice box, is marked externally by the shield-shaped thyroid cartilage which forms the Adam's apple. The larynx contains the vocal cords that act as sphincters for air regulation and permit phonation. The lower end of the larynx is continuous with the trachea, a tube composed of cartilaginous rings and supporting tissues. See also Larynx.
The term throat is also used in a general sense to denote the front (ventral side) of the neck.
1. A groove that is cut along the underside of a projecting member (for example, under a belt course) to prevent rainwater from running back across it toward the wall; also called a drip molding.
2. Same as chimney throat.
On flowers with partially or fully fused petals, the place where the corolla lobes lead into the corolla tube.
Dreaming about a constriction of the throat or hoarseness may mean the dreamer cannot easily or fully express ideas or feelings.
The part of the body that includes the larynx and pharynx, where the passageways that link the nose and mouth with the respiratory and digestive systems of the body cross over. Called also the fauces.
A portion of the neck located in front of the spinal column; contains the trachea, larynx, pharynx, and upper segment of the esophagus.

In vertebrate anatomy, the throat (Latin gula) is the anterior part of the neck, in front of the vertebral column. It consists of the pharynx and larynx. An important feature of the throat is the epiglottis, a flap which separates the esophagus from the trachea and prevents inhalation of food or drink.
The throat contains various blood vessels, various pharyngeal muscles, the trachea (windpipe) and the esophagus. The hyoid bone and the clavicle are the only bones located in the throat of mammals.
It is sometimes considered a synonym for fauces.[1]
The jugulum is the lower part of the throat, just above the breast.[2] The term is reflected in the external and internal jugular vein, which pass through this region.
