Throttling can refer to:

• Dynamic frequency scaling, also known as CPU throttling which is computer hardware speed control
• Strangling, a means of killing something by compressing the throat to manually cut off air supply to the lungs.
• Bandwidth throttling, used to control the bandwidth that a network application can use.
• Throttling process (computing), software speed control
• Throttling process (thermodynamics), an isenthalpic process in thermodynamics
