Scientist and Time Domain founder Larry Fullerton patented his time-modulated ultra-wideband (UWB) radio sensor technology and developed a chipset that is the centerpiece of the company's PulsON signal generator and evaluation kit; it is used in radar, tracking, and wireless communications applications. PulsON and PLUS (Precision Location UWB System) products are used in retail, (theft prevention and differentiating employees from customers), manufacturing (locating tools and personnel), and healthcare (patient and equipment monitoring) applications. Time Domain's RadarVision detects the motion of people behind solid walls. Time Domain was founded in 1987.

Time domain is a term used to describe the analysis of mathematical functions, or physical signals, with respect to time. In the time domain, the signal or function's value is known for all real numbers, for the case of continuous time, or at various separate instants in the case of discrete time. An oscilloscope is a tool commonly used to visualize real-world signals in the time domain. Speaking non-technically, a time domain graph shows how a signal changes over time, whereas a frequency domain graph shows how much of the signal lies within each given frequency band over a range of frequencies.
