[TEEN-tah muh-DEH-ruh] A minor red-wine grape grown in limited amounts on the Portuguese island of madeira where plantings are now slightly on the increase. In California, a small amount of Tinta Madeira is grown (mostly in the central valley) and used in the production of port.
