To send data over a computer channel or bus. "Transfer" generally applies to transmission within the computer system, and "transmit" refers to transmission outside the computer over a line or network.
Transfers are actually copies, since the data are in both locations at the end of the transfer. Input, output and move instructions activate data transfers in the computer.

The effect of one form of training on another. The transfer principle emphasizes that the positive effects of different types of training occur only when they share similar components and use the same muscles in the same way. For example, if you learn how to roller-skate, you will probably find it easier to learn ice-skating because the two activities are very alike. Similarly, if you train hard and become physically fit for roller-skating, you are likely to be fit to ice-skate. However, improvements gained from cycling are not so readily passed on to running. See also cross-training and specific training principle.

A tax-free, non-reportable movement of assets between retirement plans.
Investopedia Says:
Generally, transfers occur between similar types of plans: for instance, from a Roth IRA to a Roth IRA. There is no limit on the number of transfers that may occur between retirement plans, but a transfer must occur between the trustees/custodians of the retirement accounts. This means that the assets are made payable to the trustee/custodian, not to the retirement account holder.
