An important port in the northwestern region of the Roman province of Asia. It was in Troas on his second missionary journey that Paul had a vision of a man of Macedonia who beseeched him, saying "Come over into Macedonia, and help us". Paul immediately left Troas and traveled to Macedonia (Acts 16:8-10).

On his way back from Greece, on his third missionary journey, Paul stayed for a week in Troas. During his teaching there, a young man named Eutychus dozed off, and fell from the third story; he was assumed dead but Paul revived him (Acts 20:9). From Troas Paul went by land to Assos, where he joined his companions sailing for Palestine (20:13).
