(Trusted Computing Group, Beaverton, OR, www.trustedcomputinggroup.org) The successor to the Trusted Computer Platform Alliance (TCPA), it was founded in 2003 by AMD, HP, IBM, Intel and Microsoft. TCG is involved in numerous projects for hardening computers and peripherals to make them more secure and tamper proof. The organization is noted for its Trusted Platform Module (TPM), which is a security chip for PC motherboards, mobile devices and network equipment.
