International Mother Language Day is an observance held annually on 21 February worldwide to promote awareness of linguistic and cultural diversity and multilingualism. It was first announced by UNESCO on 17 November 1999. Its observance was also formally recognized by the United Nations General Assembly in its resolution establishing 2008 as the International Year of Languages.

The 3rd December has been declared by United Nations as the International Day of the Persons with Disabilities.

International Language Day is observed annually on February 21. It is celebrated to increase public awareness of linguistic and cultural diversity and promote multilingualism. UNESCO announced it for the first time on November 17, 1999. The United Nations General Assembly formally recognized it in 2002 through UN Resolution 56/262.

New York, Brussels, Switzerland, and also Bengali communities all over the world will be celebrating international mother language day on 21 February 2022.
