From the mountains, to the prairies, to the ocean white with foam, the United States Northern Command (USNORTHCOM) protects its home sweet home. The USNORTHCOM was established after the September 11 terrorist attacks to deter, prevent, and defeat any further aggression against the continental US, Alaska, Canada, Mexico, the Gulf of Mexico, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands. In addition to homeland defense, the Department of Defense organization also supports civil missions, including domestic disaster relief efforts and counter drug operations. The USNORTHCOM is located on Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
