Marketing Dictionary: urbanized area

U.S. Bureau of the Census term for a portion of a metropolitan statistical area (MSA) that includes a city with at least 50,000 people and a total population, including both city and suburban area people, of 100,000. It differs from rural areas, which represent less densely populated portions of an MSA and which rely upon agricultural employment.
