Venusberg

Venusberg, a mountain containing a cave or grotto, where Venus holds sway in a realm of sensual pleasure. Venus's guests incur ultimate damnation. The legend is believed to date from the 13th c., and the name of Tannhäuser is connected with it from the 15th c., most notably in the ballad Tannhäuserlied of the early 16th c.
