Victoria Land, part of E Antarctica, S of New Zealand; Cape Adare is to the northeast. Bounded on the E by the Ross Sea and on the W by Wilkes Land, it consists of ranges of the Transantarctic Mts., with a high plateau in the interior. The region was first visited during the expedition (1839-43) of Sir James Clark Ross and was first carefully studied by the Douglas Mawson expedition (1911-14).

On this map of Antarctica, the region of Victoria Land is located below the Ross Ice Shelf.

Victoria Land is a region of Antarctica bounded on the east by the Ross Sea and on the west by Wilkes Land. It was discovered by Captain James Clark Ross in January 1841 and named after the UK's Queen Victoria.[1]

The region includes ranges of the Transantarctic Mountains and the McMurdo Dry Valleys (the highest point being Mount Abbott in the Northern Foothills), and the flatlands known as the Labyrinth. Early explorers of Victoria Land include James Clark Ross and Douglas Mawson.[2]
