There isn't a hotel called the Walford in New York; however there is one called the Waldorf Astoria. The Waldorf Astoria is a luxury hotel in New York City and has been housed in two different locations. The first Waldorf hotel was opened in 1893 on Fifth Avenue; the Astoria hotel was built next to it and opened in 1897. The present Waldorf Astoria hotel, on Park Avenue in Manhattan, was opened in 1931.

The Waldorf salad was first created around 1893 at the Waldorf Hotel in New York City which later became the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel.
