River, west-central Poland. It rises northwest of Kraków and flows northwest 502 mi (808 km) before joining the Oder River. The Warta is the second longest river lying entirely in Poland; about half of its length is navigable. Its lower course, formerly in Germany, is in a region assigned to Poland by the Potsdam Conference in 1945.

Warta (vär'), river, c.475 mi (760 km) long, rising in the Jura Krakowska, S Poland, and flowing N and W past Częstochowa and Poznań to the Oder River at Kostrzyn. It is connected with the Vistula River by the Noteć River, its tributary, and by the Bydgoszcz Canal. The Warta is navigable for large craft to Poznań and for small craft for about half its course. The lower course of the river, formerly in Germany, became (1945) part of Poland as a result of the Potsdam Conference.

The Warta (German: Warthe; Latin: Varta) is a river in western-central Poland, a tributary of the Oder river. With a length of approximately 808 kilometers it is the country's third longest river. The Warta has a basin area of 54,529 square kilometers. It is connected to the Vistula by the river Noteć and the Bydgoszcz Canal (Kanał Bydgoski) near Bydgoszcz.

It flows out of Upper Silesia (the Silesian Voivodeship) near Zawiercie, flows through Łódź Land, Greater Poland and Lubusz Land where it empties into the Oder near Kostrzyn nad Odrą.
