watery mouth

Veterinary Dictionary: watery mouth

1. a prominent sign in toxemic newborn calves with colibacillosis. The calf is in a state of toxic shock, is hypothermic, recumbent and wet around the mouth to the point that fluid is dripping from it.
2. a disease of newborn lambs in which this sign is prominent. The cause is obscure but a bacterial cause, possibly Escherichia coli, seems likely.
