Air Conditioning are actually from Allentown, Pennsylvania, not Tokyo, but hearing their debut album, one would be excused for thinking that they were part of the same scene as the Boredoms and Keiji Haino. Weakness is a 40-minute onslaught of untrammeled noise rock, somewhat arbitrarily divvied up into three "songs" (one under a minute, one over 23, and one almost 16) with a total of five random titles. The music is assaultive -- the kind of music that sounds deafeningly loud even when played at a low volume -- as are the unintelligible screamed lyrics, and the general M.O. is that a bass or drum riff is introduced and then jumped upon with abandon by the rest of the band until everyone gets tired of playing that and moves on to something else. However, while this is hardly tightly arranged, there are some genuinely interesting musical and vocal passages salted around the tumult. However, no one without a huge tolerance for this sort of thing will ever find them. ~ Stewart Mason, All Music Guide
