Weekend Fun For Teens

With stricter mall and community curfews for minors, finding activities for teenagers to do with their friends that is both fun and safe can be a hassle. But adolescent weekend fun doesn’t always have to mean sitting around the house watching tv with mom and dad. Avoid mall patrolmen and spoiled plans by choosing one of these fun activities next time you decide to go out with friends.

1. Skating

Not only is skating a great workout, but the roller rink is the perfect place for bonding and hanging out with friends. Grab your wheels and get to rolling with friends this upcoming weekend. Some skating rinks even host special themed nights, like Gospel Night or Country Skating, with a discount.

2. Movies

Going to the movies with friends is always an exciting experience. Next time a film you want to see comes to theaters, call up a few friends and see if they want to come along. If you and your friends are on a budget, consider hosting a movie night at your house. Everyone can bring their favorite movie and snack and it’s completely free.

3. Sleepover

Sleepovers are great for building relationships and for parents to get to know their children’s peers. Host a sleepover complete with movies, games, great food and sleeping bags. Older kids don’t need as much supervision and direction as younger children so parents can let their teens plan and arrange the fun.

4. Out to Dinner

Next time you don’t have any weekend plans, go out to dinner with a couple of buddies. Pick a restaurant that no one has been to, dress up and enjoy a night of unique cuisine and laughter. Be sure to plan ahead just in case the restaurant you’re interested in requires a reservation.

5. Mall Time

Although a lot them require teens to be accompanied by an adult during weekend evening hours, malls are still a cool place to hang out and browse. Instead of going during curfew restricted hours, go during the day to get all the retail therapy you need without a parent.

6. Go to A Game

With spring and summer comes an abundance of outdoor games and sporting events. Show up at your high school baseball, softball, soccer or tennis match and cheer for the home team. If school is out for the semester, cruise around to your local park or recreation center. Surely there’s a game of basketball in need of spectators.

7. Game Night

Gather around the table and challenge your friends to a few of America’s favorite board games. Be sure to have classic games, like Uno and Monopoly, as well as more obscure games like Apples to Apples. Have beverages and snacks on board for hungry guests too.
